A: Having the right fuel in your body results in more effective, high-intensity workouts. But, sometimes, when faced with little time to prep, it seems best to just shove the first protein bar we see down the gullet. Don't settle for cheap gas when you can have the premium grade in the same amount of time, and often for a cheaper price.
Yesterday, we noshed on this spectacularly simple paleo "oatmeal", topped with fresh strawberries, sunflower seeds and flaked coconut
(because, that's what I had in the pantry). Served up with a side of bacon, naturally. It's packed with protein, fat and plenty of carbs to fuel you up for battle.
Add two tablespoons almond butter to a cup of unsweetened applesauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in a tablespoon of coconut milk, half a teaspoon of cinnamon and some fresh-grated nutmeg. If you're looking to gain points for flair, add a splash of vanilla extract. Simmer and stir until the oatmeal thickens. Then, get your swole on.
